Transformational Coaching

by Petra Brunnbauer

TransformationAL LIVING

There's no doubt the world is changing rapidly. And we are all feeling the ripple effects of it. You may have noticed things aren't flowing as easily as they used to. This can create a lot of anxiety in our lives, if we don't know how to navigate these changes with balance and a sense of safety. Transformational Coaching is designed to help you uncover what's holding you back from being your best self, so you can move forward in a fulfilled and meaningful way.

This week, my guest on the podcast was Sasha Tarasova. Sasha is a transformational coach, subconscious specialist, healer and a mental health advocate. She overcame her own mental distress without therapy or antidepressants. Instead, her tools were personal and spiritual development. She is now on a mission to share her story to inspire others to begin their self-healing journey. And to guide people through their transformation and to help raise the collective consciousness.

Sasha got herself out of that very dark place by going all-in on personal development, doing deep shadow work, and by connecting to spirituality.

She truly believes we all have a calling in this life and our desires are indicators of that. If we ignore our needs and desires long enough, we become disconnected and depressed.

“The great solution to all human problems is individual inner transformation.”

Over the years, I have had my share of coaching experiences. Personally, I love coaching because it offers a different perspective and feel than therapy. You may certainly disagree with me here, but I have always felt that coaching offered more of an action-focused approach. This suits me well, as I am solution-oriented and generally looking at how I can move forward.

TRANSFORMATION AND DAILY LIFE

Often, we get stuck in our daily rut. We lose inspiration or even our purpose and path. You might not be able to put your finger on it exactly, but something may be holding you back. Lately, fear seems to be a driving factor in experiencing these roadblocks. The unrest in the world and uncertainty over finances can certainly hold you back from living your best life. You need a transformation.

You may be stuck in patterns and stories that perpetuate fear and worry and keep you spinning your wheels. Fear may literally keep you “frozen in place”, afraid to try new things or make any kind of changes. What is happening in the world may already feel like it is too much to process.

Stuck without Transformational Living

The good news is that for the most part, we are all capable of change. Our brains remain changeable throughout our lives, which means you can create new habits and stories that better support what fulfills you and makes you happy. In the cycle of getting triggered and reacting with emotions and behaviors, change can create new patterns of thinking and acting. While this won’t change the world around us for now, it gives us agency over our lives and what we choose to do.

There are many ways people experience and create change. From past experience, you might remember that usually this involves repetition and also some emotional involvement. If you tried to learn a new language, for example, you may have spent quite some time in class or a language lab until your brain created new neural pathways. Once these pathways were well established, speaking and reading the new language became easier and easier. Creating positive change in life follows the same process.

Transformational Coaching

Creating change in life will be similar to creating a new habit or learning a new skill. First, you need to identify what you want to accomplish. Becoming aware of unhelpful patterns or fears can be challenging, but it’s the first step in your transformation. Until you are aware of the problem you will likely be unable to address it. If your fears center around money, for example, it may be helpful to explore the roots of these patterns.

We often take on our parents’ money mindsets from childhood and carry those into adulthood. Many of us were told that money doesn’t grow on trees, or no pain no gain. These mindsets have ingrained in us that getting and keeping money is hard. There is no easy way and we must suffer if we want to live a comfortable life or make more money.

To a large extent, you may not be aware that these thoughts are playing out in your subconscious mind. You may be wondering why you never seem to be able to make more money, or why every success is followed by an equal disaster where you lose money. The same patterns and beliefs can exist in any area of our lives, such as relationships, health and mental health, money, or our careers.

Transformational coaching can help you uncover these beliefs and take steps to remove them. Different transformational coaches will use different techniques to accomplish that. But, the overall point is to liberate you from your limiting beliefs, so you can live your best life. This process can be surprisingly quick, as the subconscious mind can make changes in an instant. It is one of the reasons why Sasha works with the subconscious mind in her coaching practice.

THE TransformationAL Subconscious

One of the “secrets” transformational coaches can work with is the subconscious mind. I have discussed the premise of the subconscious mind in various posts before. When we try to affect changes, our conscious mind can sometimes get in the way. It is wired to protect us. The conscious mind takes what it knows from our lifelong experiences and applies it to each situation to protect us.

This can be great when we find ourselves in a dangerous situation and we need the protection; however, in many situations, the conscious mind simply perpetuates fear and worry because we are about to embark on something unknown. The unknown usually makes us uncomfortable. Change can also make us uncomfortable. When we leave the familiar behind and escape the normal routines we have built, it can feel a little bit like a dangerous situation.

Transformational coaching

The problem is that the conscious mind can actually prevent us from making any changes at all - positive or negative because of this protective behavior. Transformational coaches can reach beyond the conscious mind and engage the subconscious mind directly, to affect change more quickly and efficiently. The subconscious mind does not concern itself with social norms, worries, judgements, and fear. It is simply concerned with the highest good.

When transformational coaches work with you on changing limiting beliefs or unhelpful patterns, the quickest way is usually through the subconscious mind. This can be done through hypnosis or Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for example. You can also work with your subconscious mind through visualization and meditation. The results can be profound and quick because the subconscious mind will immediately affect the changes. As long as they are in your best interest and align with your values.

The Takeaway

Change isn’t always easy. Especially considering the world around us at the moment. Our future is uncertain and we are experiencing struggles that may exceed our ability to cope. Working with a transformational coach can help you discover what kind of changes you would like to make. And give you the tools to make those changes in your life. Transformational coaches have many techniques at their disposal. The exact sessions will depend on your coach and on what you feel most comfortable with.

Feeling stuck and powerless doesn’t have to become the norm. Sometimes when we can’t see the forest for all the trees, a fresh perspective and a new approach can be life changing. You can decide to engage with a coach at any time and you don’t have to be in therapy to work with a coach. Transformational coaches can have a different approach than therapists and may offer another option to help.

Living your best life

As with any practitioner, talk to your potential coach and maybe even have a short meet and greet over video. You need to make sure you feel comfortable and in tune with them to start your transformation journey.

Be careful if coaches pressure you into anything or you feel manipulated.

A professional coach works in an ethical and collaborational way and is only interested in supporting you on your journey.

So, if you feel stuck or like something is holding you back and you can’t quite figure it out, consider working with a transformational coach!
